Thoughts about gender
do I write music differently because I am female?
- yes, I write differently. men have the tendency to produce music that need to be listened to, but women produce music to listen. When a man writes a piece, he wants it to move people, but when a woman writes a piece, she wants it to move her. She is writing for herself, a man is writing to be talked about. Men want to stick out, be different from everyone and be talked about because of it. Women produce what they want to hear, ear
- of course, I write differently because I am a woman: I write differently because I am gay, I write differently because this morning, when I woke up, I put on gray socks. everyone writes music differently because they are different people. Women's music is different because it is not men's music, people wearing green socks are different because they are not wearing blue. We are not the same

piece number one for orchestra, and straight white republican congressman.
version 1. orchestra sits stage left, in traditional, conforming orchestra black. congressman sits SR, in a suit, reading the ???? New York whatsit. Conductor walks up, lifts hands to perform, and musicians play without sound. Congressman reads newspaper, and does not acknowledge the existence of orchestra. orchestra gets to end of piece, stops, and conductor leaves, followed by musicians, one at a time. Person comes out, in normal clothes, and, with a cigarette lighter, sets fire to the newspaper. congressman drops it in a bucket, and walks off, ignoring the smoldering ashes.
or, orchestra does not play, and sits, waiting for the congressman to look up- he does not, person burns paper, he leaves, without ever seeing the orchestra.
version 2. for artist and congressman. congressman sits in such a place that he can easily see the artist, but chooses not too, while he -(reads, or laptop computer) artist finishes his pieces, and then burns them. then artist leaves. congressman is unaware of all.
nest piece- for televisions.
On the upper stage, place televisions on the front, facing the audience, all with different channels, and no sound on. Two performers stare at two TVs lower stage, one SR and one SL. they are tuned to static. they stare as if the TV has taken over, they have no other mind. different areas of the stage should then be occupied by musicians who perform. dancer is tied up, with a dress made of multi-colored wires with so many long loose ends, which are connected to things, the floor, chairs, the wall. she attempts to move to music, but cannot.
